I decided to meet up with my good friend Howard because I was going to pick up an Oil Catch Can from him. My good friend RobEvo had some left over parts from his old IX that he needed to get rid of, so I gladly took them off his hands. both Howard took me to see his friend Mitch who was a an ex-Mitsubishi mechanic. We talked for a bit and made fun of Howard for allowing his JDM cravings to make him broke-as-a-mother-fucker. I do have to admit, a little carbon fiber does go a long way! We were talking and talking as the time rolled by. I asked Mitch about the funny noises that my car was making and it turns out she was fine (just as I thought). The Evo (like any other car) is damn loud, no way around that, but nothing like a bit of reassurance from a guy that's been around the block a few times.
After a bit more car talk later, and making fun of Howard's JDM shopping spree's on Ebay. I decided that I had to check out his garage. Even Mitch told me to prepare myself as I might not want to see Howard ever again after setting foot in the compact space of a Mitsu-Freak. I backed up into Howard's driveway and was instructed to wait outside. he then opens the garage door, and a breeze of 65 degree, 0% humidity air blows in my face. One glance inside and I was already amazed! This guy doesn't kid around when it comes to Mitsubishi! Everything that a guy could possibly dream of is either on his car or in his garage. It was simply stunning. His 1989 Starion was a piece of work, amazing in every which way. Pieces of clothing from ralliart t-shirts to actually wrc mechanic jump suits all stored in a plastic clothing bag and labeled. For crying out loud he even had a Ralliart Lunch Box that looked like what my Grandfather used back in his early 20's when he was going to work in Hong Kong. If I die and my ghost lives on, I would want to live in this guy's garage.
After the tour his wife came home and it was time for us to part our ways. I went on my way back home with the image of his garage and his Starion. It really doesn't take much to care for your car, as long as you have the burning passion towards it. You'll find a way to make it live on. As for my catch can, sadly I'll have to order some parts to make it work, but I'll update this as soon as I do with some pretty pictures. Thanks for reading!
